Introduction

The Middle Section, Karachi Grammar School, comprises Classes VII to IX with
students between the ages of 11 and 14, and is situated in Saddar, in a building
that was built about 135 years ago.
School timings are 7:45am to 1:30pm on Monday to Thursday and on Fridays, School
ends at 12:15pm.
All subject classes are Faculty based, which requires students to move from
class to class during a six, 45 minutes, period day, Mondays to Thursdays, and a
five period on Fridays.
The Middle Section offers children, locker facilities, the use of various
game-specific courts, ICT classes and two well-equipped Audio Visual rooms,
apart from the traditional, well-stocked Library (with a Computer Section),
modern Laboratories, spacious Art rooms and a Sick Bay.
We expect our children to wear their uniform proudly and behave with dignity and
courtesy to everyone, within and outside the School.
We are in constant and close liaison with the College Section in order to ensure
that our curriculum is relevant to CIE O Level
requirements. As Islamiat and Pakistan Studies are O level subjects, with
examinations in Class X, the two-year preparation for these subjects begins in
Class IX.
Each year we appoint around 25 Section Monitors who are led by Boy and Girl Head
Monitors. There are also House Captains and sports representatives of all four
Houses.
The three years that the students spend at the Middle Section give them the
experience of studying in the old School building which is steeped in the
history, traditions and culture of Karachi Grammar School.
It is hoped that the experience of studying here – as many of their parents,
grandparents and even great-grandparents did – imbues students with the same
sense of belonging felt by Grammarians prior to 1999, when the College Section
moved to its new premises in Clifton.
