The long-awaited, much-anticipated 175 years anniversary finally arrived and it did not disappoint. In fact, it was every bit as wonderful as anyone could have imagined. Over a thousand students, the Principal, Headmistresses and Assistant Headmistresses of all sections, faculty and office staff gathered at the Middle Section campus on November 1st, Founders Day, to participate in a special commemorative assembly.
Children from Years I to IX stood in the historic grounds, smartly dressed in their iconic white and grey uniforms ,proudly wearing their maroon and blue ties. After the singing of the national anthem and hoisting of the national flag, the Principal, Mr.Glasson took a nostalgic trip down memory lane as he reminisced about the contribution of KGS in promoting progressive education in Pakistan and its place in the history of Karachi. He reflected on the various outstanding contributions that Grammarians had made to their school, community and country and concluded his speech by highlighting KGS’s distinctive culture of collegial, supportive relationships and dedication to service.
To commemorate this occasion, a colourful mural was unveiled by the Principal , a one-of-a-kind,original work of art, created by the art departments of all the sections.
This was followed by a unique celebration of KGS’s journey across two centuries! At the striking of the school’s historic brass bell ,balloons in the school colours of maroon and blue were released into the air by groups of students. Each peal of the bell marked 25 years of KGS ‘s contribution to educating the young people of Karachi. As the bell was struck for the last time , rose petals were released along with the balloons.
The historic assembly concluded with the hoisting of the school flag and the singing of the school song.As the combined school choir in the upstairs balcony was joined by the students and staff below, the Middle section campus resounded with the sound of joyous harmony.
