Science Week:Guest Speaker: Kirsty Kemp

15 Oct 2018

London-based marine biologist/zoologist, Kirsty Kemp, talked to the children of Class V and VI, over Skype. Ms Kemp, who works in the Deep Sea around Greenland, talked about how the deep ocean is a great big unknown space where new species are constanly being discovered. Her concern has been how trawling is destroying the ocean bed. She showed the children a PowerPoint and then answered their questions. It was an extremely enlightening discussion as the children had never met a marine biologist before. It really opened their eyes to the wonders living in the oceans that cover 70% of the earth.
