Thursday Assembly – Blood Donation

22 Feb 2018

The Children of VG talked about blood donation in anticipation of the upcoming Annual Blood Drive held in the Junior and Kindergarten. The coordinator for the blood drive, Mrs. Amna Hussain, explained how a single donation of one pint of blood can save three lives. The children of VG reinforced the idea that giving blood not only saves lives but has no harmful effect on the donor. Blood is, in fact, the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person - The Gift of Life- as 1 out of 10 people admitted to a hospital need a blood transfusion. The body recovers from a donation very fast and it is possible to donate blood again after three months. Donation also stimulates the bone marrow to make new blood which is actually very healthy for your body. Every student of class VG spoke at the presentation and told us one interesting fact about blood. They all held a paper cutout of a drop of blood, adding a dash of colour to their presentation.
