Junior Section Readathon 2017 takes off !

10 Feb 2017

Maha Khan Phillips was born and educated in Karachi and is the editor of the Professional Investor Magazine. She is a  multiple award winning financial journalist and the author of  three books one of which is a children’s book published in 2009 by OUP Pakistan; ‘The Mystery of Aagnee Ruby’. She is currently working on another book for children.

Maha, who is visiting from London, came to speak to the children of class V and VI. She read a delightful excerpt from her story about two boys, Saif and Taimur, who go to visit their cousin Amina. Amina lives in a haunted house in Naran. The book is a recommended read for children between the ages of 6-12 and has all the elements of a good murder mystery. The floor was then open to questions and the children asked many interesting and pertinent questions.

It was wonderful having a writer who drew her inspiration from the culture and geography of Pakistan and she is a fine role model for children aspiring to write.

The author's visit was an interesting start to the Readathon.

Thank you Maha Khan Phillips from all of us at the Junior Section
