Science week was held from the 8th to the 12th of October. The theme of the event was ‘Where can Science take us?’ A variety of activities were conducted with the children, by the Science team. The Science department had organized a talk for Classes III and IV, by the Dawood Foundation on the depletion of the mangroves in Karachi. While Usman Iqbal came to KGS to talk to classes V and VI about the ‘Olive Ridley Project’ and about how ghost gear was affecting the marine life in Karachi.

In addition, the teachers, in keeping with their learning of S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) conducted a bridge building activity using ice-cream sticks with Classes V and VI. Our younger learners in Classes III and IV, were taught how to make slime.  The foyer board was set up by the Library, Science and the I.C.T. departments.  Science week was a tremendous success as there was cross-curricular integration with all of the departments in the Junior section actively participating in Science Week. Many of the children made small turtles out of recycled material and put them up for display in a faux turtle observatory created by the Art department. The Music department focused on using a variety of videos to teach and facilitate learning. Additionally, posters were made about saving our ocean, which were put up outside the classes.
